Comparison of MyLikes RevTwt and Sponsored Tweets

Filed Under (Twitter) by admin on 11-05-2010

Which one is better? MyLikes, RevTwt or Sponsored Tweets

As I mention in my report ‘How to Monetize Twitter‘, for those who want to make money off their Twitter Accounts, there are several options but the two key players are Izea through their Sponsored Tweets unit and RevTwt. There are others but of much less significance.

Of late ‘MyLikes’ has joined the fray and seems to be making life difficult for the older more entrenched counterparts. Izea has been dragging it’s feet and has not been able to get enough advertisers on board to provide a consistent source of revenue for Twitter users. Izea’s model has been different than RevTwt – it allows advertisers to sponsor a Twitter account at a predetermined dollar amount. The advertiser sends out a tweet to the followers of the account and expects a certain number of clicks in return. If the number of clicks generated are less than the expected amount, the advertiser re-sends the tweet a couple of more times at no extra charge.

RevTwt on the other hand has been strictly pay per click. You tweet an advertisers message and you get paid by the number of clicks generated. The advertiser does not have to commit to a certain amount per Twitter account sponsored and pays strictly on the basis of clicks generated. RevTwt has been very regular in providing a steady stream of advertisers and Twitter users have been making a consistent albeit small amount of money using the RevTwt pay per click model.

Here comes MyLikes with the Pay Per Click model like RevTwt. It has other bells and whistles but what matters to marketers is the revenue model. MyLikes has a Pay-Per-Click model very similar to RevTwt. It also offers a Pay Per Tweet model but few advertisers have taken to that.

Where MyLikes has tilted the field in it’s favor is through it’s payment model. Izea pays you only when you accumulate at least $50 in your account. Can you imagine what a good funding source it is for Izea to hold on to other peoples money. I bet it funds a good percentage of their business. It’s like free money for Izea. Izea does not have an abundance of advertisers and consequently very few people generate enough clicks to get to $50 in a year and many abandon their accounts. All that money stays with Izea.

RevTwt pays out once your account accumulates $20. A much better model than Izea. MyLikes on the other hand pays out every Friday as long as you have more than $2 in your account, yes that is two dollars. You start seeing results, that is cash in your PayPal account very very quickly. Who do you think marketers are flocking to. I believe Izea’s Sponsored Tweets had the lead but it took advantage of it’s members through it’s ridiculous payment model. Besides, it did not work hard enough to bring on board enough advertisers.

RevTwt is holding it’s own as it has done a better job of getting quite a few advertisers on board and the payment model is a bit more reasonable. It should consider lowering it’s payout amount though to compete better. In the meantime, MyLikes has the momentum and it’s competitors better scramble.

What is MyLikes?

Filed Under (Twitter) by admin on 21-04-2010

MyLikes is a startup launched by two ex Google Adsense and Adwords experts that encourages people to share with others what they like but with a commercial angle. Let’s say you are active on Twitter or you have a website or blog. You join My Likes and browse through the list of advertisers. If there is one that you like, you tweet about them to

How to get more followers on Twitter fast

Filed Under (Twitter) by admin on 10-11-2009

My book ‘Long John Twitter‘ (LJT) launched in May 2009 was received very favorably and helped me get familiar with all kinds of Twitter users. When I was writing LJT, I had the professional marketer and business person in mind. Over the last few months, I have noticed another kind of Twitter user that I wasn’t too familiar with – the student and the social media hobbyist. These two groups are joining Twitter by the droves but their reasons are very different than businessmen and professional marketers. These two groups, students and social media hobbyists primarily want to use Twitter for fun. However; while having fun, they do want to have some bragging rights and want to outdo their friends in the number of followers they have.

The original book ‘Long John Twitter‘ addresses the subject of acquiring followers and retaining them on a long term basis. But it is more of a marketing book and takes a more detailed approach to Twitter and it’s sister Apps. It is an overkill for those who want to get a quick 500 to 1000 or 2000 followers and show off a bit.

It is great to see the enthusiasm of this group jockeying for position and hopefully this report / booklet helps in getting those quick followers to brag about.

As this is an abbreviated version of the original book ‘Long John Twitter‘, I have named it LJT Lite.

There are several ways to follow people:

  • Manual – that is one at a time

  • Semi-automatic – that is a bunch at a time but initiated manually

  • Automatic – you set up your parameters and the system / software follows people round the clock without any daily intervention from you.

  • Outsource it – let some company do it for you as at LJT Get Followers service.

Automatic and Outsourcing is out of the scope of this booklet as it is not intended for those who have a more ambitious agenda. We will however; cover manual and semi-automatic and use FREE services to do that.

This eBooklet is intended to help you build a decent base of followers. Whether you want to have 500 followers or 5,000 or more, the methods taught will keep you growing your followers. If you build a sizeable follower base, you can look into monetizing it but that is a different subject.

Good Luck!

Twitter gets new round of funding, new backers

Filed Under (Twitter) by Najee on 26-09-2009

Reuters reports: Twitter received $100 million in funding on Friday, valuing the company at $1 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter, as investors bet that the Web company’s explosive growth will yield actual revenue or a lucrative deal.

Investors including mutual fund giant T. Rowe Price and private equity firm Insight Venture Partners took part in the latest round of funding which closed on Friday, according to Twitter. Twitter did not give the amount of the funding.

Sticky Keywords for Twitter

Filed Under (Twitter) by Najee on 14-09-2009

Why are they important?

When you want to increase your followers, one of the methods used is follow other people. You hope some of them will follow you back. That sounds pretty simple. Let’s sit down and start following people all day long. In a month, you can probably follow 100,000 people and even if 5% follow you back, you will get 5,000 followers. Software packages abound that follow people for you. You don’t have to do it manually any more. Sounds simple right? Wrong.

Twitter does not allow you to follow that aggressively and is quick to suspend accounts for such an infringement. We have seen accounts suspended for following just 200 people if done within a couple of hours. That’s why auto follower service TweetSpinner has a default follow of 30 at a time. Let’s say you slow it down and follow only 300 to 350 people a day. That’s approximately 10,000 people you follow in a month. Would that work. Nope!

Once you cross 2000 followings, Twitter wants you to keep the ratio of followings / followers to within 8 to 10%. Nobody outside of Twitter seems to know the exact ratio. Let’s say you are following 2000 people and you have 1000 followers. You want to follow more but you can follow an additional 200 or so and then wait till some of them follow you back. So if 5% of the 200 follow you back, your followers go up by 10 to 1010. Now you can follow another one or two people.

Most people hit that roadblock and wonder what to do next. One way to handle that is delete those that are not following you back. As laid out in the book Long John Twitter, instead of doing it painstakingly by hand, you can use some services that will do it for you.

Does it work. Yes it does. You add a bunch of people and then wait a couple of days before you delete those that are not following you. This frees up precious slots that you can fill up by following more people. You follow people and quickly un-follow those that don’t reciprocate. Rinse and repeat. Is this effective. Yes it is and over a few months, if you do it regularly, you can build a decent list.

Is there a better way?

Human beings have a very curious and inquisitive mind and they are always looking for better solutions. The method described above works but what if we can improve upon it. Let’s say you use a service like TweetSpinner that allows you to follow people based on keywords. You make a list of keywords, enter them in the system and it starts following people whose tweets include those keywords. You delete those that do not follow you very diligently and the system follows about 300 people a day. In a month, you followed and deleted and followed and deleted 10,000 people. If on the average, 5% follow you back, your followers will grow by 500 a month. That’s not bad. That will net you about 6,000 followers a year whom you can interact with and tell them about yourself, your business or whatever your cause / politics are.

But what if 20% of the people follow us back? Well that would raise your followers to 24,000 / year. Hmmm! Now you are thinking.

We have researched hundreds of keywords and come up with a list of keywords and key phrases that result in 30% or higher follow back. Based on the above math, 40% follow back would yield about 48,000 and 50% would yield you 60,000 followers / year. Looking at a shorter term, in three months, that would yield you 10,000 to 15,000 followers. That is pretty strong. Next year, your count will be even higher. Just imagine the possibilities.

How much are 60,000 followers worth to you?

There are services charging thousands of dollars just to advertise your Twitter Avatar to people. Whether people follow you or not is not their headache. For example, TwitterCounter charges $9,500 for 5 million views. If a small percentage of people decide to follow you back, it adds up. If a large number of followers is good for your business or your image, then it is well worth the price.

We are a small company and our offerings are very inexpensive, peanuts compared to what companies like TwitterCounter charge.

We offer:

  1. Sticky Keywords:
We provide you a small list of keywords that our research has proved yields follow backs of above 30%. You can use a service that can follow by keyword or follow manually by keyword. Our report tells you about a couple of services that will do it for you. You enter the keywords, define the purge parameters and then sit back and watch it get to to work. In a few months, you will have tens of thousands of followers.

Our report will give you the keywords and will also suggest services that will help you follow and unfollow automatically. You just feed the keywords.  (Order Here)

  2. We do it for you.
If you think you don’t want to mess with software and/or services and want somebody to do it for you, we can do that. Here are the tiers:

    1. 5,000 Followers in two to three months:

    2. 10,000 Followers in three to four months:

    3. 15,000 Followers in three to six months:

If for any reason, we are unable to deliver the contracted number of followers in the specified time, we will refund you a prorated amount at the end of the contracted period.
